What is Zumba? ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music & dance themes creating a
dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a
combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of
fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body
toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
It's fun...the type of exercise you'll want to do everyday and feel good about doing it!
It's different... You probably never thought you'd be exercising to this type of music. All Zumba
instructors make learning Zumba simple by easily guiding you with synchronized movements. It's easy.
You can start at any level and it's easier than any other program you've done before.
It's effective... It is an aerobic workout, which we all know works. But it's more fun, which make you stick
with the program until you get results.
It is a "feel-happy" workout... ZUMBA combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves
and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the
principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" in order for Zumba participants to stick to
the Zumba fitness program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is not only great for the body,
but is also great for the mind.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
My name is Deborah Colley. Several years ago, I attended my first belly dance class and instantly fell in love with this dance form. I soon learned that one class a week for a short 6 week session would not be enough to satisfy my growing passion. My search for additional classes and learning opportunities has led me on a wonderful journey in which I have met many fascinating and supportive women. I have studied under several local talents – Jazana (New Cumberland, PA), Miraj ( Harrisburg , PA ), and Sitamun ( Hagerstown , MD ). To further enhance my dance skills, I enjoy attending dance workshops.
HOW DID I FIND ZUMBA?
I wanted to lose a few pounds and improve my cardiovascular system. I was shopping around for something new, something that would hold my interest for longer than 15 minutes, and something that would incorporate my love of dance. A friend took me to a Zumba class and I was hooked from the first song! Zumba makes me smile, I don’t look for a clock or watch the time, and I look forward to my next class. Imagine getting excited about an aerobics class! I recently became a certified Zumba instructor and enjoy sharing the program with others!
